Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
(Provide CPR)
Overview
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR in various situations, including community and workplace settings.
Topics covered
Manage an unconscious casualty, and review the Basic Life Support Chart (DRSABCD).
Performing CPR on manikins and following the prompts of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Legal issues and documentation when providing first aid.
Upon completing this course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment that is nationally accredited.
This course needs to be renewed every 12 months.
Time Duration
It takes around 2 ½ hours. + The theory online quizzes of around 30 minutes.
Assessment Blended Delivery
Theory-based multiple-choice questions completed online prior to the training day.
Practical scenarios undertaken during class.
To be deemed competent, participants must be able to perform CPR on a manikin on the ground for 2 minutes.
Students enrolled in “Provide CPR” must complete pre-course learning and attend a 2-hour course with their trainer.
Online pre-course learning consists of presentations and multiple-choice questions to prepare students for further training and assessment. The precourse education can be conducted in class with the trainer if organised beforehand.
